ArcMap AddIn - Setup

Installation Instructions

Installation Requirement - Requires Arcmap 10.4 or later
Note: There is a version of the AddIn that is available for Arcmap 10.2 and 10.3. However, this version only receives updates to maintain functionality.

The following instructions will walk you through installation of the GBDX ArcMap AddIn on your computer.

Step 1: Download the Gbdx.esriAddIn file from the ESRI AddIn Releases folder on the DGConnect-ESRI GitHub

Note: Last stable release will be in master. Other branches are in development; download from other branches at your own risk.

Step 2: Once the ESRI AddIn File is in the directory of your choice, double-click on Gbdx.esriAddIn and following dialog shows up:

Step 3: In the ESRI ArcGIS Add-In Installation Utility, click Install Add-In. An installation succeeded prompt should show up as below:

Step 4: Open ESRI ArcMap. Click Customize -> Toolbars -> GBDX Toolbar

Step 5: New toolbar is added and can be free or docked.

Step 6: Click on the gear icon to bring up the settings. Enter username, password, API Key, and adjust the File Location to choice of directory for application data cache:

Don't know your API Key? See Lesson: How to Find Your API Key.

Step 7: Click Test Connection to confirm username and password have been entered correctly.

Step 8: Save Settings. GBDX ESRI Add-In is now ready for use.

Refer to ArcMap AddIn - Functionality pages for how to use the tools.

Note: If you had an earlier version installed and the current version is not working correctly now,
follow these steps to fix the issue:

  1. Completely uninstall the add-in. To uninstall, in Arcmap go to Customize > Add-In Manager > select the GBDX add-in and click 'Delete this Add-In.' Close Arcmap, re-install the add-in, and open Arcmap once more. Use a tool from the add-in to verify that you are able to connect again.

  2. If that didn't alleviate the issue, completely uninstall the add-in again, close Arcmap, open your explorer and go to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\ESRI\Desktop10.4\ArcMap\Templates. Remove Normal.mxt from this directory. Now go to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\ESRI. Remove the DefaultDomain....etc directory from this directory. Re-install the add-in, and open Arcmap once more. You will need to re-enter your credentials for the add-in prior to using a tool to verify that you are able to connect again.
